The rules

Not allowed

These are not allowed anywhere in a note, its signature or its link, including as jokes, quotes, "irony" or coded language.

• Hate and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, serious illness, age or immigration status. This covers sexism, racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, homophobia and transphobia.
• Slurs, dehumanizing comparisons, and hateful symbols, numbers or dog whistles.
• Harassment: bullying, insults or call-outs aimed at a real, identifiable person.
• Private information about anyone: phone numbers, home addresses, ID numbers, or full names paired with accusations (doxxing).
• Violence: threats, incitement, or glorifying violence, terrorism or violent extremist groups.
• Sexual content of any kind. Anything that sexualizes minors is removed, preserved as the law requires, and reported to NCMEC.
• Self-harm: content that encourages suicide or self-harm.
• Scams and crime: fraud, phishing, crypto giveaways, "DM me to earn", malware, and illegal goods or services.
• Impersonation of real people, brands or officials.
• Infringement of someone else's copyright or trademark.
• Spam: gibberish, keyword stuffing, repeated characters, link farms and suspicious shortened links.
• Links to any of the above. A link must keep pointing to allowed content. If the page changes into something on this list, the note is hidden.

Allowed

Personal messages, memories, memorials, love notes, jokes, mild profanity not aimed at anyone, opinions and politics expressed without hate, and honest promotion of legitimate products and projects.

How moderation works

• Before a note goes up: two independent AI models read it. If both reject it, it is rejected. Otherwise a person reviews it before it appears. The first 100 Founding Notes are always approved by hand.
• After it's up: anyone can report a note with "Flag this note". A note with 3 reports is hidden automatically until a person reviews it.
• We can hide any note at any time, with or without notice, if we believe it breaks these rules or the law, or to protect people. Hiding removes the text, signature and link from public view. The number stays on the wall as a blank tombstone.
• Moderation, including AI review, can make mistakes, and we can't promise to catch every violation. Reporting helps.
• We keep the original of every hidden note and the reason for the decision, privately, for appeals and legal requests.

If your note is rejected or hidden

• A paid note rejected before it goes up is refunded automatically. A note hidden after it went live is not refunded (see the Terms).
• The status on the device you submitted from shows the decision. To learn the reason, email legal@neverdies.app with the note number.
• Appeals: email legal@neverdies.app with the note number within 6 months. A person looks at it again, and we reply with the outcome and the reason.

Reporting illegal content

Use "Flag this note" on any note, or email legal@neverdies.app with the note number, what's wrong, and where you're based. This address is also our single point of contact for authorities. Copyright notices follow the process in the Terms.
